Program

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) program prepares individuals to provide compassionate, hands-on care to people with physical disabilities, cognitive impairments, or chronic health conditions. Key aspects of the program include training in personal hygiene, mobility assistance, nutrition, medication support, and effective communication with clients and healthcare teams. Students learn to assist in both home and institutional settings, emphasizing safety, dignity, and respect for client independence. The curriculum blends online instructor led classroom instruction with clinical placements, offering real-world experience. Upon completion, graduates are equipped to work in long-term care facilities, hospitals, and community settings, playing a vital role in supporting the well-being of vulnerable populations.

*Please note that this program does not lead to an AEC.  Matrix College provides a completion certificate.

Prerequisites

Quebec Secondary V or equivalent
  • English language requirements: IELTS 5.0 (nothing less than 5.0 in any individual module) or equivalent accepted test (Duolingo, Matrix, Language Canada  accredited members, TOEFL etc…)
  • Exemption: Students having a High School Diploma from native English speaking countries (example: Nigeria, Philippines) or a diploma from Post-Secondary level institution in Canada.
